For example, whether we’re building a house or doing an addition, we try to avoid factory-built trusses when framing the roof. Instead, we use 2 x 12 full rafters and “stick frame” construction. The labor cost is slightly higher, but in return, you get an unobstructed area you can use for storage, complete with a pull-down or walk up stairway.

Most people don’t realize that this is an option. And, frankly, most builders don’t bring it up because using manufactured trusses is more profitable for them. It’s just one more way that EDW Builders looks out for you.
