EDW Builders does wonderful finished basements.
We can give you everything from a plain ceiling to arches or
a tray ceiling or whatever else you may want. It isn’t
difficult or expensive. But it takes vision and creativity
to make it happen.
It also takes wisdom borne of long experience: That’s
why we will advise you to wait until your new home has “settled” (one
or two years after construction) before doing the job. Many
folks want the basement finished at the time of construction
so they can include the cost in their mortgage. But all houses
settle, and when they do, the basement can leak. Then you’ve
got water behind the drywall, possible mold problems, and
a general mess.
However, if it isn’t possible to wait before finishing
the basement of a new home, EDW Builders has a solution.
If enough space is available, we can build a “room-within-a-room.” We
can set the walls a foot or more away from the concrete wall.
And we can add a door or access point and lights in this “vertical
crawl space.” Should a leak develop, it will be much
easier to find it and patch it—without ripping out
drywall. Our vertical crawl space also makes it easy to run
cable TV, Internet, speaker, and other wires at a later time.
And, of course, the space is ideal for storage.
